General Instructions

ThermoLux heating mats are made of water-proof and rot-proof material and they are watertight. They offer maximum security due to the built-in, full-surface protective conductor.
The mats are directly connected to the 230V power supply by means of the plug connector and, at an ambient temperature of 20°C, and without a cover, reach a maximum surface temperature of approximately 42°C.
However, the heating of the mat depends on the undersurface, the ambient temperature and the amount of substrate to be heated (sand, mulch, water etc.) and can take from several hours to days.
When used without temperature limitation, avoid overheating the ThermoLux heating mat, since the mat can reach a temperature of over 100°C if placed between dry substrates!

Use as terrarium underlay

The ThermoLux heating mat should be placed on a sheet of styropor at least 12 mm thick. The mat should be placed so as not to cover the whole terrarium area, so that the reptiles can also seek out cooler areas.
To avoid stress cracks in the terrarium floor, do not place the terrarium directly on the mat, but lay spacers approximately 8 mm high between the mat and the terrarium base (e.g. wooden slats). This will ensure an even distribution of heat. Check the temperature change at the surface of the floor substrate using a thermometer, and adjust the separating distance to achieve the required temperature. Ensure that the humidity is sufficient to prevent the animals suffering from dehydration.

Note:

The mat must not be placed in the terrarium, since animals may crawl under it, or it may be damaged by animals with sharp claws.
The mat must not be placed between two layers of insulating material (e.g. styropor, wood shavings, other substrate material). This could lead to a build-up of heat, and damage to the terrarium or heating mat (see General Instructions)!

Use as an underlay for plants

Place the mat on a windowsill or directly in a hydro-culture vessel or seeding tray. Depending on the volume of the planter and the ambient temperature, the soil temperature rises to approximately 20-25°C, which is a very comfortable temperature range for plants. Water regularly in order to prevent the earth drying out. Keep the substrate moist in order to prevent overheating.

The ThermoLux Temperature Regulator can be used for controlling the temperature. The temperature will then automatically be maintained within the required range. The temperature regulation is only sufficiently accurate within the damp substrate.

ThermoLux Foot-Warming Mat

The ThermoLux Foot-Warming Mat is made of water-proof and rot-proof material and is therefore suitable for use in interior cold and wet working areas. The mat is directly connected to the 230V power supply by means of the plug connector and, at an ambient temperature of 20°C, and without a cover, reaches a maximum surface temperature of approximately 30-50°C. However, the heat transmission and the heating time of the mat depend on the undersurface (wood, carpet, concrete, tiles) and on the ambient temperature.

ThermoLux Temperature Regulator

Only suitable for moist media (soil, gravel, sand etc.) and water. Control range 18-34°C (tolerance: moist substrate +/- 3°C, water +/- 0.7°C), switching capacity 230V~ 400W. In conjunction with a multiway connector, several ThermoLux mats can be used up to a capacity of 400 watts using a temperature regulator.
